Beefcake!!

Homemade burgers, originally uploaded by Sunshine follows me.

Today, we made our own burgers from british grown choice beef mince (we scoff in the face of BSE), onions, eggs and breadcrumbs, seasoned with worcester sauce and touch of nutmeg.

MDH decided to make sauteed baby potatoes whislt I grilled the beef patties on the George Foreman. The sesame seed buns were lightly toasted before smothered in ketchup and a thick layer of mature cheese.

Burgers.

Apple juice.

David Bowie.

It's gonna be a good evening.

I was happy with the pasta I made (and mildly burned) tonight --- till I saw your blog :( And we have no barbecue, so no burgers for us at home...

How do eggs work in burgers though? That's something I've never quite figured out, even though evil McDonald's, of course, has its breakfast staple Egg and Sausage McMuffin.

j: Wetherspoon's makes really good lamb burgers! we used to go there alot for the 2 for 1 lunch specials.

budak: I totally agree!

a.l. and w: Thanks!

tym: We used the egg to make the beef patties, but a fried egg on the top of a burger is really yummy (makes a change from cheese).

hey yeah mmm sometimes i just NEED a burger. the other day i was at borough market with a friend visiting from singapore, and i HAD to have one of those burgers on the grill. i asked for lamb, but the cute argentinian burger dude only had beef, and i grabbed at it all the same. and as i bit into it, scrummy yumptious, my friend ren said: "so you are giving in to the bse, huh?" aaaaaa

i guess we've all gotta go sometime, but it's too bad that bse seems like SUCH a bad way to go. i keep thinking it involves WORMS EATING MY BRAINS, but am i just imagining that?

stellou: I reckon if I was going to get BSE, I would have gotten it by now, seeing that I'm over 20 and spent most of my childhood wolfing down the minced beef.

Howdy, all! ^_^ I found this blog here whilst searching for anything about a place called "Burger Dude" that used to exist in the '80s, in Worcester, Massachusetts... the only thing that came up was apparently the posted comment just a little above (?) this one.

But something's eating at my curiosity, and it may just be right in front of my face here (I'm terrible like that), but - and please pardon my ignorance - what is "BSE"??

Falls down laughing: BSE = Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy. Also known as 'Mad cow disease'. :)
